Competition Terms and Conditions

You need to be a Merseyside or Halton resident to enter.

Entries will be shortlisted to two winners for each of the three categories and two age groups and contacted between August 7th and 11th by phone and email and invited to attend the cook-off. Organisers reserve the right to withdraw the offer on August 12th if they have been unable to obtain a response from shortlisted entrants.

At the ‘cook-off’ to decide the signature recipe card winners, Brian Mellor and the judging panel will select the winner for each category and the overall winner. The panel will comprise of a representative from Liverpool Community College, Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority, a Local Education Authority (for the 11-17 year old category) and a health specialist, Dr Brian Johnson.

Photos and videos will be taken by local and national media at the event. Attendees must give their permission for their images to be used in this way and in the future.

Entrants provide their own ingredients but must assemble or cook the dish in the college’s kitchen within the allocated time of an hour.

Two dishes need to be prepared one for photography, the other to be tasted by the judges.

Shortlisted entrants need to be available for two hours on Wednesday, August 14th or if not, Monday, August 19th where they will be serving their dish at The Academy, Liverpool Community College, Tradewind Square, Duke Street, Liverpool, L1 5BG. Tel: 0151 252 4512 www.liv-academy.co.uk

Liverpool Food & Drink Festival in Sefton Park is on Sat. & Sun. 7-8 September where Signature Recipe winners of each of the three categories and two age groups will be announced. www.liverpoolfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk

The winning signature recipe cards will be available at The North West Vintage Rally in Victoria Park, Halton on Sat. & Sun. 29-30 September and from October 2013 across the region.

Winners will also become ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ ambassadors for Merseyside and Halton and be offered the opportunity to accompany a press tour of one of Merseyside’s food recycling operations.
